Gift from the Grave.

I always seem to be writing about death these days, and with both of us working with people these days it is pretty much an everyday part of our lives.

Anna started working as a carer more than a year ago now and inevitably as her clients require help in the home, they are more likely to either be very old and/or in poor health and as a consequence it is not unusual for the odd client to finally come to the end of their life.

Some of her clients are very organised and like to have everything sorted out well in advance just in case something happens and they don't have the energy to complete a task. Anyway one of Anna's favourite clients (I know they are not supposed to have favourites, but being human it is hard not to) passed away a few weeks ago in hospital, having had an amazing number of problems over many years.

The client had written all her Christmas cards to her carers before her death and her daughter dropped them into the office during the week to be delivered. It really touched Anna to have a card, gift voucher and a personal message from her friend, she was even more touched when she found out that she might have been a favourite too, as (she inadvertantly found out)her voucher was a bit larger than some of the other carers had got. She didn't say that she had got more than anyone else, Anna is much to discrete for that, but she told me which is probably a mistake on her part ;-) because now the world knows, or this little part of it anyway.
