Is it me or are a lot of Hosting Co's a pile of poo
First Portland losing all my pictures and not having a backup and now Fasthosts are playing up.
Well not playing up exactly, being completely unreasonable.
Our www.berkswelldirect.com site has been down for nearly 5 hours now. They say our cp-app.cgi script has been taking up too much cpu time. So they completely wiped our site rather than just disabling the offending script without informing us (Dan Pearson in Abuse) they admitted to that and they aren't prepared to get it online again for us to collect an outstanding order.
That the shopping cart software has been up and running since August 2004 is of no consequence they shut us down with no warning and without trying to resolve the problem.
I'd say look at www.fasthosts.co.uk actions and vote with your wallet.

No, it's not you. Hosting companies are the biggest pile of poo in general :-)
That's outrageous, that they should wipe your whole site.
You might like to try The Moose Is Loose. They are charmingly inept at times, but they resolve all problems with speed and courtesy and it is fair to say that their service is improving all the time. You get what you pay for - and the Moose are very inexpensive... but we've found them better than far priceier companies.
